This guide will teach you how to ask questions in a way more likely to get you a satisfactory answer.

Before you Ask

> DO:

  • Try to find an answer by searching archives or the web to the related topic
  • Try to find an answer by reading a FAQ
  • Try to display that you have tried (1) and (2) first. This will help establish effort was put in asking the right question.
  • Prepare your question. Think it through, and keep it brief.

DON’T:

  • Write in all CAPS. This might be interpreted as shouting.
  • Be offended if you do not receive an answer to your liking. Instead, we invite you to write in again after adhering by the guidelines.
  • Detail your anguish. Things like "I am so upset! " and "my condition makes me cry " are distracting and compromise the brevity of the question.
  • Use abbreviated short cuts like spelling "you " as "u ". Please type words in its entirety.
  • Close your request with "Can anyone help me? " or "is there an answer? " You might receive perfectly logical but dismissive answers like "Yes, you can be helped " or "No, there is no help for you "

When you Ask

> DO:

  • Write in English. The answers will be in English only.
  • Be sensitive in choosing the title of your query. Your question might be overlooked if you post your question in an irrelevant topic.
  • Be clear and explicit about your query. Present the background facts as clearly as you can.
